A letter from a DEAR FRIEND
I recently had an epiphany (there's a 75 cent word--revelation from God)
which relates to my field in counseling....
I've come to the realization that we, as humans are made up of three parts:
mind, body, spirit....and I also realize that a lot of people have a hard
time understanding --one God...three parts...the Triunity of God...Father,
Son, Holy Spirit...so here's the epiphany...
God Man
Father------------------------------------------Mind
Son----------------------------------------------Body (Jesus,
who was God in the flesh)
Holy Spirit-------------------------------------Spirit
There are three parts to man, and three parts to God. This, making it clearer
(hopefully) leads to my next point....secular psychologists focus on mind and
body. They do not focus on the spirit, because it is not "testable"...can't
see it, touch it, etc, it's not testable...it would also be controversial
because, ethically, the psychologist (practicing secular psychology) is
allowed to discuss spiritiual things only if it comes up, but they are not
allowed to push their values, and one of them being "religion" .
I think it's the key thing that it missing, and I think not only is it
important that we heal only our minds, or only our bodies, but our spiritual
dimention as well (being 3-dimetional)....everyone has that dimention, it's
not a matter of whether you believe it or not, it does exist in all
people....it's the breath of life that God to us. So Not looking at that 3rd
dimention or ignoring it as if it doesn't exist, we walk around 2-dimetional
beings...left with our own will, sinful nature, etc. So, basically what I am
trying to get across is that the only way to heal and become whole is to heal
mind, body, and spirit.
